Value of a Human Head

“A moment of humility: The king learns valuable lessons in respect and recognition amidst a richly woven South Indian landscape.”

A king, accompanied by his minister, was out for a stroll when a mendicant happened to pass by. The king immediately bowed down to him.

“My lord! You should not lower your head before anybody!” observed the minister, but the king remained silent.

A few days later, the king summoned his minister and presented him with the heads of a goat, a tiger, and a man. He instructed, “Go in disguise and try to sell these.”

The goat’s head was quickly sold, followed by a nobleman purchasing the tiger’s head to decorate his house. However, the minister failed to sell the human head.

“I hope you now realize that a human head is not such a precious thing that it should not be lowered before anybody!” said the king, imparting an important lesson in humility and respect.
