The Precious Inheritance

King Jaisheel encounters the old Brahmin, caught in a moment of profound revelation, as they navigate the depths of legacy and longing under the warm South Indian sun.

King Jaisheel had a habit of purchasing items without hesitation each morning. This practice had become almost a sacred tradition for him.

One morning, an old Brahmin was heard calling out before the palace, “I wish to sell, for just a hundred gold mohurs, what has remained in our family for five generations!”

Intrigued by the Brahmin’s claim, the curious king summoned him. “What is the precious inheritance you have preserved for five generations?” he asked.

“The price must be paid first, my lord,” the Brahmin replied. After the king handed over the price, the Brahmin opened his bundle, revealing a worn-out blanket.

“My lord, this blanket symbolizes the poverty that has plagued our family for the past five generations. Of course, it may be useless to you; feel free to discard it,” the Brahmin said sadly.
