The Opportunity

In a moment of profound friendship, Dhaniram offers to adopt one of Jagatram’s sons, highlighting the values of love, dignity, and the essence of equal opportunity.

Dhaniram and Jagatram were neighbors, but their circumstances were vastly different. Dhaniram was wealthy, while Jagatram struggled with poverty. Despite their differences, Jagatram had four sons, whereas Dhaniram had none.

Recognizing the potential in Jagatram’s sons, Dhaniram decided to adopt one of them. “My friend, I’m pleased to tell you that I’ve decided to adopt one of your sons,” Dhaniram informed his neighbor.

Jagatram chose to remain silent, prompting Dhaniram to ask, “Don’t you wish one of your sons to avail himself of this opportunity?” Dhaniram was surprised by the lack of enthusiasm.

Jagatram finally spoke, “Please don’t misunderstand me. I don’t wish for one of them to be deprived of the opportunity to struggle and prosper in life. Besides, is it wise for me to leave one of them rich and the other three poor? I love them equally. I shall strive to give them equal opportunities and leave each to his own destiny,” he explained.
