The Ghost’s Orchard
Jeevan Das owned a lemon orchard that was regularly plundered at night by thieves.
Jeevan had a friend named Vinod, who was talented in acting. To alleviate his friend’s distress, Vinod disguised himself as a ghost and hid in the orchard. The trick worked; the thieves were terrified to see the ‘ghost,’ and the plundering ceased. The orchard soon became known as the Ghost’s Orchard!
Encouraged by the newfound safety of the orchard, Jeevan borrowed a considerable amount of money and invested it into the lemon grove. The results were promising, leading to high hopes for a bountiful harvest.
However, before the fruits could mature, a devastating cyclone wreaked havoc in the orchard, spoiling all the produce. Despite the loss, Jeevan still had to repay the loan, leading him to the difficult decision to sell the orchard. But who would be interested in buying the Ghost’s Orchard?
There was only one person besides Jeevan who knew that there was no ghost in the orchard—Vinod. Ultimately, Jeevan had no choice but to sell the orchard to Vinod at a low price, for Vinod was not a wealthy man after all!
