The Far-Sighted Father-in-Law
Rajmohan was the landlord’s clerk. After accumulating enough money—whether honestly or dishonestly—he set out to build a large mansion.
His wife, Susheela, insisted that a small room be constructed in a corner of the compound, intending to lodge her mother-in-law there. However, before they could move into the new house, Rajmohan’s mother passed away.
Shortly thereafter, the landlord grew annoyed with Rajmohan and dismissed him from his position. With all his savings invested in the mansion, Rajmohan was left without a source of income, forcing him to rent out the newly built house.
Years went by, and eventually, Rajmohan passed away. His son, Ramu, found success in business, and finally, the family moved into the much-coveted mansion.
As soon as Ramu’s wife inspected the mansion, she exclaimed to Susheela, “How far-sighted my father-in-law was! Not only did he build a house for us—his son and daughter-in-law—but he also remembered you! Look at the cozy little room for you in that corner of the compound!”
