The Enchanted Raga

Manohar’s enchanting voice fills the air, bringing peace to the town and unsuspectingly capturing two criminals in a melodic embrace.

In a quaint little town, there lived a singer named Manohar, who had mastered only one kind of music—a melody known as Raga Neclambasi. Whenever he was in a joyful mood, Manohar would sing this Raga. His singing possessed a peculiar quality; listeners often found themselves falling asleep under the enchanting influence of his voice.

People in the town often debated about Manohar’s talent. “What kind of singer is he if he knows only one Raga?” challenged some critics. Others countered, “He may not know more than one Raga, but isn’t it amazing how he brings everyone to peace with that single melody?” Still, a few skeptics remarked, “How can we judge if he sings well when we drift off as soon as he begins? My grandmother could lull me to sleep with her lullabies!”

One evening, two strangers approached Manohar, offering him some money. “O worthy singer, this is merely a portion of what we intend to pay you if you agree to sing for us,” they said. Intrigued but unaware of their true intentions, Manohar began to sing.

The two men had actually planned to rob a nearby bank. As the charming sound of Manohar’s voice echoed through the evening, they fell into a deep slumber. Little did they know that their sleep would lead to their downfall. The watchman, alerted by the calmness of the atmosphere, caught them in the act. Local townsfolk gathered around as the strangers were apprehended and handed over to the police. Manohar’s mesmerizing singing had inadvertently helped capture notorious burglars.

Needless to say, Manohar was rewarded for his unexpected role in the arrest of the criminals. His humble and enchanting music not only brought joy but also served the community in ways no one could have imagined.
