The Blind Who Could See

A joyous exploration unfolds as a curious boy discovers life’s lessons with the wise guidance of his blind servant amidst a vibrant South Indian landscape, symbolizing the value of insight over sight.

Setting the Scene

A boy sat on the shoulders of his blind servant, directing him on their way. The boy said, “Here are trees abundant with apples. Take me closer to them so I can pluck a few.”

The Servant’s Questions

“Aren’t the trees protected by a fence?” asked the blind servant.

“They are not,” replied the boy.

“Are there many people around?” inquired the servant.

“Not a soul!” responded the boy.

The Blind Servant’s Insight

“There must be someone guarding the trees,” the blind servant observed.

“Nobody is guarding them,” the boy reported.

“In that case, either the fruits are not apples, or they are of a kind that are hardly edible,” concluded the blind servant.

A Lesson Revealed

The boy tasted one fruit, spat it out, and exclaimed, “You may be physically blind, but you can see better than I do!”
