Prince Charming for a Night

“Welcome to Kuberpuri: A Celebration of New Beginnings and Cultural Heritage”

Kunal Verma, an esteemed courtier of the King of Vidarbha, was sent to the Kuberpuri area of the kingdom as its new Governor.

The people of Kuberpuri received him at a well-attended public meeting. A musician sang a welcome song in a melodious tone, the essence of which was, “O young, noble, and charming master, come and take charge of us. Your bright face, tender voice, and unique vigor will be an inspiration for us!”

Kunal Verma felt extremely flattered by the song. He spent the night with a sense of joy and pride, basking in the warmth of the people’s affection. The following day, he sought out the singer, eager to reward him for the heartfelt lyrics.

“Who composed that lyric? I should reward him,” Kunal inquired.

“Forget rewarding him, Sir. The poet died fifty years ago,” replied the singer. “He composed it for a charming prince who once served as our governor. Since then, we sing it to welcome every new governor.”

Upon hearing this, Kunal Verma’s spirit was dampened, and he reflected on the fleeting nature of fame and recognition.
