Paying Without Knowing

“Amidst the vibrant hues of village life, a delicate balance of friendship and betrayal unfolds as Vikram grapples with his debt to Anant, while Ravi watches with keen interest.”

Vikram borrowed ten rupees from Anant to buy a goat from the market. Unfortunately, the goat died prematurely. Despite this, Vikram felt no urgency to repay his debt. Whenever Anant inquired about the repayment, Vikram’s wife would claim that he was not at home.

Ravi, Vikram’s neighbor, confronted him about the situation. “I will expose your lie to Anant!” he threatened. In response, Vikram bribed him with a rupee to keep him quiet. Ravi continued to make his threats repeatedly, collecting a rupee each time.

One day, Vikram and Anant crossed paths on the road. “I’m sorry, but I will return your money soon,” Vikram stated. Anant replied, “Forget it. Ravi has paid me already, collecting it from you in installments!”
