Does It Make All That Difference?

In the village court where justice is sought, Ramu’s plight and Lagan’s cleverness intertwine, revealing the complexities of right and wrong.

Ramu complained to the village chief that he had lost his goat. The next day, the goat was discovered in Lagan’s possession, prompting the chief to summon Lagan to the court.

“Why did you steal Ramu’s goat?” the chief asked sternly.

“Sir, I found it in the street! Last year, I found a coin in the street, and you allowed me to keep it,” Lagan explained his conduct.

“I allowed you to keep the coin because someone had lost it!” said the chief firmly.

“Sir, I found the coin after someone had lost it. I found the goat before someone had lost it. Does it make all that difference?” Lagan demanded, challenging the chief’s reasoning.
