Bravo!
Once, the kingdom of Magadha was attacked by the army of Anga. However, they were decisively routed. The King of Magadha commended his soldiers and sent them back home with pensions and presents. Upon returning to their respective villages, the soldiers were given a rousing reception by the people.
Among the returning soldiers was Balaveer, who proudly boasted that he had single-handedly hacked to death a thousand Anga soldiers. The villagers hailed him as a hero. However, one villager challenged him, saying, “But you only cut their limbs; why didn’t you sever their heads?” This question caught the attention of those around.
Balaveer provided a quick response. Without batting an eyelid, he exclaimed, “I didn’t get a chance to cut their heads! Someone had already severed them!” His answer turned the room into fits of laughter, showcasing the humor that often accompanies tales of valor.
