A Way of Growing Rich
The Wealthy Moneylender
Mohandas was a wealthy moneylender. He provided loans to villagers, but if a borrower failed to repay the loan along with heavy interest in time, he would take their property. Despite his riches, Mohandas lived like a poor man, spending little on comfort and luxuries.
A Surprising Proposition
One day, Ramu, a poor villager, met him and proposed to sell his land in exchange for a loan. Mohandas was surprised but recognized Ramu’s honesty; he knew that Ramu would not have any ill motives. Regardless, the offer for the land was quite alluring for Mohandas.
The Value of Labor
Mohandas pondered deeply and shared his thoughts with Ramu. “You see, behind my treasure lies twenty years of labor and patience,” he stated proudly. “How lucky I am that my hard work has paid off.” This reflection reveals the true measure of richness, grounded not in wealth itself but in the dedication and effort invested over time.
