The Empty Sack at Last!

The perseverance of one villager amidst avarice, revealing a tapestry of emotions in the heart of a bustling South Indian market.

The Watermelon Creeper

A poor villager once planted a watermelon creeper near his hut. Over the course of a few months, the creeper spread across the thatch of the hut, and numerous fruits grew from it.

A Trip to the Market

When the fruits were ripe, the villager decided to take them to the market. As soon as the market watchman saw the fruits, he picked one from the sack. Following suit, the market supervisor, the superintendent, and their boss each took a watermelon, their eyes glaring at the poor man.

The Villager’s Complaint

After all his fruits had been taken, the villager went to the chief officer of the locality to complain about the behavior of his subordinates. However, the officer responded harshly, saying, “You audacious fellow, you have come to me with an empty sack, have you? Leave the sack for me and get out!”
