Questioned by the judge, Ravi explained, “My lord, I am to pay him his fees if I win my first case. This is my first case. If you order me to pay him, I effectively lose the case, meaning I would not have to pay him. Conversely, if you rule that I do not have to pay, he loses the case. Thus, he cannot claim his dues once he has lost!”

The judge, taken aback by this peculiar argument, adjourned the case for a hundred years!
