Gopal’s Guesses
Gopal suffered from a loss of memory and was admitted to the hospital. After a few days, the doctor informed him, “Gopal, you’re now all right, and you may go home.” He felt relieved and happy that he did not have to stay in the hospital for long.
As he neared his village, he spotted someone sitting beneath a huge banyan tree. The man’s face seemed familiar, but Gopal couldn’t recall his name. He approached him and said, “I’ve met you before, perhaps at the wedding at Parasuram’s house?”
“I’m afraid not,” said the stranger.
“Then it could be at the 60th birthday celebrations of Pasupati?” Gopal suggested.
“No.” The response was once again negative.
“I know, it was at the weekly shandy in the neighboring village,” Gopal asserted, quite confidently.
“You haven’t been cured of your illness, Gopal,” the man replied. “I’m your uncle, Krishnayya.” With that, he took Gopal back to the hospital.
