One Day He Remembered
Devanathah was prone to forgetfulness. He frequently misplaced items and would spend hours searching for them. He often forgot to attend to the chores he was assigned, leading to his wife, Thankamma, having to remind him of everything. This consistent responsibility weighed heavily on her.
In his quest for knowledge, Devanathah regularly attended discourses at a nearby temple. However, every time he visited, he would inevitably leave behind his shawl, sandals, or umbrella. It then became Thankamma’s duty to return to the temple and retrieve his forgotten belongings.
One evening, upon returning from the temple, Devanathah gleefully announced to his wife, “Can you believe it? Today I didn’t forget anything! I brought back my shawl, umbrella, and sandals.” His pride was met with a surprised response from Thankamma.
“Sandals?” exclaimed Thankamma in disbelief. “Today, you forgot to put on your sandals when you went out. I ran out to remind you, but by then, you had already left. You must have worn someone else’s sandals. What a shame!”
