Chandu Shows His Common Sense

Chandu, the eager disciple, steps into the King’s court, ready to prove his worth with a blend of knowledge and intuition, while his mentor Bhishma watches in anticipation.

Bhishma Sharma, the esteemed astrologer and occultist, trained many worthy disciples. One by one, they completed their studies under his guidance and ventured out to make their own living. However, Bhishma never allowed Chandu to leave. He would often confide to others, “Chandu is a good young man, but he lacks common sense. Without common sense, no amount of learning holds any value.”

Eventually, Chandu insisted on stepping out to demonstrate his worth. He wondered how long Bhishma could hold him back. Finally, the master conceded, saying, “Do as you please!” Encouraged by this freedom, Chandu made his way to the King’s court, boldly proclaiming, “My Lord, I can solve any mystery!”

The King was gripping a mosquito he had just caught and asked, “Tell me, what is in my grip?” Chandu, recalling the secret lessons he had learned, made some calculations and replied, “You have a creature that can fly!”

“Fine. Go ahead!” said the King, intrigued. “It is brown in color!” Chandu continued confidently. “Fine, fine. Go ahead!” the King urged him on. “It can pierce human skin!” Chandu added, and the King responded, “Excellent! Go ahead!”

It was at this moment that Chandu applied his common sense. Recognizing that the King would not grasp something insignificant, he concluded that it had to be something worthy of his status. “A vulture is in your grip, my Lord!” Chandu finally declared, demonstrating not just his learning but also his intuitive wisdom.
