The Correct Signature!
There was a forest situated between Suryagarh and Chandragarh, a realm infamous for the notorious bandit Narsingh, who ruled over its shadows.
Once, the King of Chandragarh requested a loan of one lakh gold mohurs from the King of Suryagarh. It was arranged that the prime minister of Chandragarh would travel to collect the amount.
Narsingh had spies planted in both royal courts and was promptly informed about this transaction. Being illiterate, he sought out a pundit in the dead of night, demanding to learn how to forge the prime minister’s signature. When the pundit hesitated, Narsingh brandished a dagger, coercing the reluctant teacher to comply.
The next day, the prime minister, accompanied by his bodyguards, set out for Suryagarh. Unbeknownst to him, Narsingh’s gang had laid a trap and captured the entire party. Narsingh himself donned the minister’s attire, while his lieutenants disguised themselves as bodyguards. He forcibly took the royal seal and the letter of authority from the minister, detaining the group within the forest.
Narsingh proceeded to Suryagarh, greeted the king, and received the loan. However, the moment he signed the receipt, the king ordered his arrest. The pundit had unknowingly taught the illiterate bandit to write “Narsingh the Bandit!”
