Bandits Set to Run

Outsmarting Danger: A Tale of Wit and Courage on a Moonlit Road

A priest who had performed some rites in the house of a generous landlord was on his way home, carrying a rich gift: a gold necklace.

The road was lonely, and darkness enveloped the night. Suddenly, four bandits surrounded him.

The priest quickly realized that hiding the ornament was impossible. To resist them would mean certain death.

He quietly opened his bundle and sighed, “Let the looted thing go in loot!”

“Is it a looted thing?” one of the bandits asked curiously.
“It hasn’t been even ten minutes. I saw, just around the bend of the road, a cart full of boxes of jewelry being looted by three or four bandits. They gave me this necklace so that I wouldn’t utter a word about their operation,” explained the priest.

The bandits, lured by the prospect of more treasure, forgot all about the priest’s necklace and rushed toward the bend in the road. Meanwhile, the priest hurried to the nearest village and spent the night in a villager’s house, safe with his wealth.
