The Pundit’s Revenge

“Madan’s mischievous antics lead to unexpected lessons in a vibrant South Indian village.”

Madan was a naughty chap who spent most of his time playing with the village urchins. When there were no playmates available, he kept himself busy by harassing passers-by.

One afternoon, an old pundit was passing through Madan’s village. Spotting the pundit, Madan took aim at his head and threw a pebble. His aim proved accurate.

The pundit stopped, looked in all directions, and soon found Madan, who was standing there laughing.

“Wah, wah! What an aim! Here is your reward,” said the pundit, handing a paisa to Madan. As he was leaving, the pundit added, “I wish the landlord, who is expected to pass this way soon, knew of your skill. No doubt, he would choose you for his son-in-law!”

Madan felt inspired by the pundit’s words. Soon after, he spotted the landlord and his party. Excitedly, he struck the landlord with a stone and ran over, expecting a reward. However, the landlord’s entourage seized him and gave him a thorough thrashing!
