The Thief and the Trader
A petty thief once tried to steal a horse from the stable of a horse trader. However, the trader caught him red-handed.
“I am a poor man, sir. Please have mercy on me. If you wish, I can serve you as your most obedient servant,” pleaded the thief.
The horse trader laughed heartily. “Why do you laugh, sir?” asked the thief, confused by the trader’s reaction.
“You fool! How can you serve me? How can someone who could be caught so easily ever be capable of stealing horses for me from others?” observed the horse trader.
