At Last
Once, there was a wealthy merchant who was caught selling adulterated goods. As punishment, the authorities ordered that he should be made to drink a potful of ghee.
The merchant appealed to the governor for mercy. However, the governor insisted that he either drink the ghee or face one hundred lashes as punishment.
Desperate for help, the merchant then approached the king. The king, moved by the merchant’s plight, took pity and asked if there was a way to resolve the situation. He assured the merchant that his wealth would be sufficient to pay the fine.
